Lavendon Group's health and safety manager Chris Wraith has joined the International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) as its new technical officer. Mr Wraith replaces Gil Male who retired earlier this year.

Mr Wraith joins IPAF from Lavendon where he was UK Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) manager. He will be based at IPAF's head office in Cumbria, UK, and takes up his post on 1 July.

"Chris brings more than 20 years of operational and managerial experience of the access industry to the post and will undoubtedly become a key member of our team," said Tim Whiteman, IPAF chief executive officer. "We are delighted to be able to share his experience with our members around the world."

Mr Wraith is a qualified IPAF instructor, a chartered member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, and holds a degree in safety and environmental management. His expertise and experience was demonstrated at the recent IPAF Summit in Amsterdam where he gave a well-received presentation on outrigger pads (see linked story).

"I am really looking forward to becoming part of the IPAF team and building on the excellent work of Gil Male," said Mr Wraith. "I will be working closely with everyone in the access industry to further improve the safe and effective use of powered access equipment worldwide. My thanks go to everyone at Lavendon for a long and happy association."
