India: JCB is building a new US$ 50 million excavator factory in Pune, India. It will initially manufacture 20 tonne-class JS 200 tracked excavators. According to JCB managing director.

John Patterson, the company sold 400 excavators in 7000-unit Indian market last year. However, the new facility will have the capacity to produce between 5000 and 6000 machines per year.

“It will serve primarily India, and will be capable of exporting to the Middle East and South-East Asia,” he said.
