New ground protection from Isokon

Slovenia-based composite ground protection and temporary access mat manufacturer Isokon has launched a new generation of heavy-duty mats, called Isotrack X G2.

The new mats have a traction surface on each side and use the company’s patented Iso-Traction surface design, which is also used on Isokon’s Isotrack H and Isotrack L series mats.

Having been tested by Ljubljana University’s Faculty of Civil and Geodetic Engineering, the Iso-Traction design was shown to offer a significant increase in kinetic and static friction forces compared to the original Isotrack X surface design, according to Isokon. These improvements apply in both dry and wet or muddy conditions.

The new mats, made of compression-moulded thermoplastic, can withstand compressional forces in excess of 415 tonnes/m2 and they are foam-filled to prevent water ingress if punctured.

The interlocking mats were said to be easy to connect to one another, offering ground protection not only against machines but also pedestrians.

They offer 100,000 cycles of use, according to Isokon, and are recyclable at the end of their life.
