A UK manufacturer of go-carts and ‘dune buggies' has entered the construction equipment market with 300 kg capacity, ride-on wheeled dumper and loader models.

Bolton based Cubb Products Ltd started developing the machines four years ago, and Colin Ferguson, Cubb's founder and managing director, said operator safety was one of the major benefits of the skid-steer, 4WD models.

"The operator feels that he is enclosed within the machine," said Mr Ferguson, "he is part of the machine and protected."

Both machines share a 790 mm wide chassis design and weigh approximately 300 kg. They are hydrostatically driven and powered by a 9.7 kW Honda GX390 Electica start engine, with a diesel option. Top speed is 5 mph and both models have a power take off (PTO).

The dumper lift capacity is 300 kg and its lift height is 1.5 m. It is available in electric tip version - the MD270E - and hydraulic high lift versions, the MD270HL. The dumper is 1550 mm long, 1690 mm high, and priced at £4995 plus VAT.

The 300 kg capacity ML270 loader has a self-levelling bucket and can lift to 1.3 m. Its price is £5500 plus VAT.

Both machines are available now in the UK and the company said that if a big order came in it would be ready to export.
