Niagara tunnel

Canada: Ontario Power Generation has awarded a contract to Strabag to construct a 10.4 km tunnel to supply water from above Niagara falls to the Adam Beck hydroelectric power generation facility at Queenstown Heights.

The US$ 600 million project is due for completion in 2009. It will increase the generation capacity of the complex by about 1.6 terrawatt hours per year.
