Specialized transport equipment manufacturer Nooteboom Holding has acquired Kennis Trailers, also based in the Netherlands. The acquisition adds another brick hauling trailer manufacturer to the Nooteboom Holding, following its acquisition of Floor Trailers in December (IC Jan06 News, p7).

Before the sale Kennis was a division of Pacton BV, the largest trailer manufacturer in the Netherlands with an annual production of 1,500 units, according to the company. Pacton will focus on its core business of large volume standard trailers. For 15 years Pacton has produced around 100 brick hauling trailers a year under the Kennis Trailers brand.

The acquisition is “a good match for the business plans of other Nooteboom Holding subsidiaries”, according to the company. Kennis Trailers BV will be an independent company within Nooteboom Holding, and will stay in Pacton and Ommen until later in the year when it will be moved to the Nooteboom plant in Wijchen. Plans are to get substantial growth from the existing Kennis range by using the Nooteboom sales and service network. Marcel Schoorl will remain responsible for sales at Kennis.
