Multitel Pagliero is targeting increased sales to North America through its local partner, Baker Equipment, the company said at the SAIE show in Italy.

Jerry Kist, Pagliero’s export sales director, told AI that he expected the US economy to improve next summer – linked in his view to a Mitt Romney victory in the election – and that, coupled with the weaker Euro, presented an opportunity for Pagliero.

The Italian company has previously exported MX200 booms and superstructures to Baker to mount on to trucks locally, and Mr Kist said the machine had met with some success in the country, particularly with sign companies.

He said there was also an opportunity for Pagliero to export its crawler mounted atrium lifts to the US. Mr Kist will visit Baker - based in Richmond, Virginia - in November to discuss opportunities.

Meanwhile at SAIE, the company launched its MJ201 machine, a telescopic boom plus jib model on a 3.5 t GVW truck that uses the same aluminium sub-frame as the MX210/250 models, although reversed.

A key feature of the platform is a side mounted cage, providing a flat bottomed basket ideal for work on roofs.
