Paul Amedee to lead Safway safety systems

24 April 2013

North America’s Safway Group has appointed Paul Amedee to the role of vice president of safety.

In his new post, Mr Amedee will lead the continued improvement and advancement of Safway’s safety systems and reporting tools, and coordinate all safety-related administrative procedures. Indirectly, he will also be responsible for overseeing regional and branch safety personnel, as well as employee and customer safety-related training.

Mr Amedee brings more than 20 years of experience working in the safety field to Safway. Prior to joining the firm, he served as the quality health safety security environmental leader for Champion Technologies, a global specialty chemical company serving the oil and gas and refinery industries.

Before that, he spent five years with The Shaw Group as corporate environmental health and safety compliance manager.

Safway takes safety very seriously and works hard to reduce its incident rates. In the first quarter of 2013, the firm’s total recordable incident rate (TRIR) in the refinery market was 0.0. For North America overall, Safway had a -47% reduction in recordable incidents over first quarter last year, and its TRIR dropped to 0.83.
