Prangl scissors light the way for the Snowmobile contest in the Austrian Alps

Scissor lifts supplied by Prangl helped light the way for the snow mobile’s answer to Formula 1 at Saalbach-Hinterglemm in the Austrian Alps.

A 25,000-strong crowd was there to witness the race in December. The competition saw 24 teams of six snow mobile riders compete for the grand Saalbach-Hinterglemm prize.

It took place after dark and had to be illuminated using 960,000 watts. Flood lights were installed on 18 m-high scissor lifts supplied by Austria-based rental company Prangl.

The race lasted for 60 minutes during which each team had to change riders five times. The winning team was the one that completed the most circuits of the 850 m-long track in the allotted time. In addition to the large crowd, 150 media representatives were on hand to report on the event.

A 16 m working height articulated boom and a telescopic handler had been made available in advance by Prangl for assembly and preparation work.
