UK-based access and telehandler rental company Quick Reach Powered Access has expanded into Scotland with a deal to acquire Specialized Access from IAPS Group.

Specialized Access is a provider of specialist powered access platforms located in Wishaw, near Glasgow. Quick Reach said the company would retain the facility in Wishaw and has transferred all former Specialized Access employees to Quick Reach.

Director and co-founder of Quick Reach John Barton said, “This acquisition enables us to expand into Scotland and further enhances our fleet mix, thanks to the addition of the latest tracked and truck-mounted booms. We are also delighted to be retaining the team from Specialized, who will further add to our expertise and ensure a smooth transition for their customers.

“As part of Quick Reach, the Wishaw operation will expand from a niche products supplier to a provider of a comprehensive range of access platforms and telehandlers. We expect this move will generate some exciting new business opportunities within the existing Scottish customer base, as well as enable us to bring new customers on board.

“As already reported this is the start of our ambitious expansion plan and we couldn’t have asked for a better start to 2016.”

Specialized Access brings Quick Reach a fleet of tracked boom lifts from brands including Hinowa and Omme Lift, plus Isoli truck mounted booms on 3.5 tonne Nissan Cabstar chassis.

Quick Reach purchased the assets of Specialized Access for an undisclosed sum from independent powered access distributor IAPS Group. The companies reached a preliminary agreement in December 2015 and finalised the deal in January.

Managing Director of IAPS Group Steve Couling said, “We made a strategic decision to sell Specialized Access in order to focus on our core business as a full service powered access distributor.

“We already had an excellent relationship with Quick Reach, which is a customer of IAPS Group. It has rapidly built a strong reputation as a high quality independent rental company and was looking to expand into Scotland, so it felt like a great fit for both parties.”
