China: A joint venture comprising Parsons Brinckerhoff, the 3rd Railway Survey and Design Institute of China and Deutsche Eisenbahn—Consulting has won the contract to project and construction manage the 458 km high—speed rail link between Zhengzhou, Henan Province to Xi'an, Shannxi Province, China. The line will pass through the cities of Luoyang, Sanmenxia and Weinan and is the middle segment of a 1400 km link between Xuzhou in Jiangsu Province to Lanzhou in Gansu Province. Construction of the segment is due to take four years, starting from the third quarter of 2005, and will cost US$ 4 billion.
