UK sales and rental company Selwod has announced it has invested £2 million (€2.5 million) in equipment with Hyundai since the start of the year, purchasing 70 excavators from the South Korean firm.

The Selwood purchase order included Hyundai R27Z-9, R60CR-9, R80CR-9 and R140LC-9A units.

Selwood said it became the first stockist of Hyundai construction machinery in the UK when it invested in R55-3s for its hire fleet, and was appointed a distributor in 2001.

Andy Ridgwell, Selwood operations manager, said, “Although for us this is a large investment in a short space of time, it is important that we continue to increase and update our fleet to meet customer expectations.

"2014 is going well for us and this investment in our fleet is essential for us to maintain growth. In addition to investing in our hire fleet we also sell around 40 machines a year and this will take our purchases of Hyundai excavators to over 100 this year with a value in excess of £4 million (€5 million).”
