Paul Sheffield is joining the supervisory board of Dutch contractor Bam Group for a period that will end with the general meeting of shareholders in 2021.

As a civil engineer with a longstanding career in British construction companies, Sheffield has extensive experience and expertise in the UK construction industry. Bam said this was important as the UK was its second largest home market.

Most recently, Sheffield was managing director, engineering enterprise, at UK-based Laing O’Rourke, and left the company earlier this year. He started working for Laing O’Rourke in 2014 and, as a member of the group executive committee, was responsible for activities in Europe and the Middle East.

Sheffield was also closely involved with the company’s innovation initiatives.

Prior to that, he worked for 31 years with another UK contractor, Kier.

During that time, he fulfilled several management positions and accumulated international experience in Hong Kong and the Middle East, before being appointed CEO – a position he held for four years.

Since 2015, Sheffield has been a non-executive director of Southern Water Services in the UK.

He will be joining Bam following the retirement of Peter Elverding for health reasons.

Elverding will be succeeded as chairman of the supervisory board by Harrie Noy at the conclusion of the annual general meeting on 19 April, 2017. Henk Scheffers will be succeeded as vice chairman by Klass Wester.
