Efficient low-friction slider pads in telescopic booms reduce vibration and help allow safe and precise load positioning. Lubricating moving parts helps reduce vibration but demand is increasing for lubrication-free materials that “minimise or even eliminate stick-slip influences during operation,” Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (QEPP) in the Netherlands explains.

QEPP offers slider pads made from Nylatron 703 XL plate, which Fassi uses on its hydraulic loader cranes that have telescopic booms. The material improves linear boom movement and helps eliminate chatter when sliding parts overcome inertia as they begin to move. In addition to a low coefficient of friction, the material offers high strength and stiffness as well as high wear-resistance.
