Sochi on target

President and CEO of Sochi 2014, Dmitry Chernyshenko has confirmed that construction for the 2014 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games is on schedule.

Speaking at the 121st International Olympic Committee Session, currently being held in Copenhagen, Denmark, Mr Chernyshenko said that active construction work continues on competition and infrastructure venues in the respective coastal and mountain clusters and that work is following the schedule originally submitted to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Also present in Copenhagen, Russian Deputy Prime Minister, Dmitry Kozak said, "The Russian government continues its active support that secured Sochi 2014 as a national priority project. The government guarantees that the Games in Sochi will be delivered in line with all commitments made during and after the bid stage."

All venues for Sochi 2014 will be equipped to meet the needs of people with disabilities and will set new standards of urban planning according to Mr Chernyshenko. "Sochi will become a benchmark for the development of other Russian cities," he said.
