More than 40 Liebherr tower cranes are being used to help build the first phase of the Aspern Vienna’s Urban Lakeside construction project in Austria.

The cranes are EC-B and EC-H series models. The flat top cranes on site include the 160 EC-B 8 Litronic, 202 EC-B 10 Litronic and 250 EC-B 12 Litronic.

The Aspern Vienna’s Urban Lakeside construction project is one of the largest urban developments in Europe. The city quarter is being built on a 240 hectare site in the northeast of Vienna. The development will contain housing, office space, commercial, scientific and educational areas.

The first phase will be completed by 2017. In this phase the tower cranes will help construct the infrastructure, including the openings of the subway stations in the north and south of the development. Green areas and a central lake will also be constructed.

The project is expected to cost €4 billion (US$ 5.45 billion) and it will be built in three phases. The final phase will be completed by 2030.
