Port Services in Scotland will add a new 600 tonne capacity Terex Demag TC 2800-1 lattice boom truck crane to its fleet.

The Aberdeen-based heavy lifting, transport, engineering and project management company has invested £4.5 million (US$7.8 million) in the new crane. Delivery is due later in October. It will provide a major boost to the Port Services heavy crane division and reinforce its position as a major UK player in heavy lifting services, according to the company.

Target applications will primarily be servicing core business in the oil and gas sectors but will also be the construction sector. Steve Clark, Port Services managing director, said, "This crane offers huge potential for us to diversify and effectively serve the heavy lifting requirements of the construction industry. We believe there will be large demand for a crane of this capacity, which can be deployed at short-notice anywhere throughout the UK. The large reach and lifting capacity of this new crane will prove a major asset and will greatly enhance the scope of our operational capabilities and ensure a cost effective and efficient service to customers."
