Total to take delivery of Liebherr RL-K 4200

Total is due to take delivery of a Liebherr RL-K 4200 ram luffing knuckle boom crane from Liebherr Offshore Division.
The model is for Total’s floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel for the Egina project. The Egina deep water project is around 130 km from the Nigerian coast. It is expected to be ready in 2017. The vessel is 330 metres long, has a 61 m beam and 33.5 m deep. It will have on-board storage capacity of up to 2.3 million barrels.
Gordon Clark, Liebherr offshore crane division sales director, said, “Our first dealings with Total go all the way back to 1985 but our more recent involvement included cranes for all of the New Build FPSO projects such as Dalia in 2005, Pazflor in 2009, Clov in 2013 and now with Egina. We also have a number of cranes on several of Total’s fixed platforms.”
In total, Liebherr will deliver three RL-K 4200 knuckle boom cranes, all EX-rated, for Egina. They will be the first RL-K series cranes for Total, and the first EX-rated knuckle boom cranes for Liebherr, a company spokesperson said.
The cranes are being developed in Rostock, northern Germany and will be delivered later in 2015.
