Two dead in miami crane collapse

On 25 March a tower crane accident in Miami, Florida, US left two dead and five injured.

According to Miami's International Herald-Tribune, the crane was being jumped (climbed) to increase its height on a high rise construction site overlooking Biscayne Bay under windy conditions. A section of the crane fell and crushed a building used as office space for the construction project.

The cause of the accident was not known, officials of the Miami Fire and Rescue said on the afternoon of the accident.

The building under construction is the 46-storey Paramount Bay Condo, scheduled to open by mid- 2009.
