United Rentals adds five more specialty locations

United Rentals had added a further five specialty rental locations in the US and Canada.

Power and temperature control rental sites have been added in San Antonio (Texas), Mobile (Alabama), Birmingham (Alabama), and Saskatoon (Saskatchewan, Canada).

Also new are trench safety branches in Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania) and Birmingham (Alabama), providing excavation support and confined space entry systems, along with training.

Paul McDonnell, senior vice president - operations, trench safety, power and HVAC, said, "These latest additions to our specialty network advance our plan for 18 targeted branch openings in 2013. They expand our presence in strategic areas of the US and Canada where aging infrastructure and a robust energy sector are driving demand.”

United’s power and trench operations generated $229 million in revenues during the first nine months of the year, equivalent to almost 11% of total group revenues. In the most recent quarter these specialty businesses grew by 25%, outpacing the growth of United’s general rentals activities.
