The Midfield Terminal Building was designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates together with Ove Arup, NACO and BNP Associates.

A joint venture between Turkish contractor TAV, Greece-headquartered Consolidated Contractors' Company (CCC) and United Arab Emirates (UAE) contractor Arabtec has won an AED 10.8 billion (US$ 2.9 billion) contract to build a new terminal at Abu Dhabi International Airport, UAE.

Developer Abu Dhabi Airports Company (ADAC) awarded the contract for the construction of the 700000 m2 Midfield Terminal Building, which is scheduled to open in 2017.

Designed by Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF) together with Ove Arup, NACO and BNP Associates, the terminal will include piers for up to 65 aircraft. The building will be constructed using approximately 69000 tonnes of steel, more than 680000 m3 of concrete, nearly 500000 m2 of steel and glass cladding, 135000 tonnes of rebar, 360000 m2 of suspended ceilings and 325000 m2 of natural stone flooring.
