22 July 2015

In this video iC editor Chris Sleight discusses the findings of the 2015 study of the world’s 200 largest construction companies.

As in previous years Chinese state-controlled companies dominate the top of the league table, occupying the top four places. Elsewhere in the top ten Bouygues, ACS, and its majority-owned German arm Hochtief, ranked with the biggest contractor in the Americas, Bechtel, and yet another Chinese state-owned entity, MCC.

Japanese and South Korean contractors start to appear in the top 20, underlining the fact that, with the exception of the Chinese, the world’s biggest contractors tend to be from developed countries. It is not until the 40’s that other emerging market contractors start to appear in the rankings

The video also looks at profitability and revenue trends for the largest contractors, as well as analysing the shares won by different national groups.
