The National Federation of Demolition Contractors, has released a preview video of its high reach training simulator.

The UK’s National Demolition Training Group, the training arm of the National Federation of Demolition Contractors, has released a preview video of what potential users can expect of its high reach training simulator.

Developed in conjunction with Volvo and software provider Oryx Simulations, the system will allow operators to gain a basic understanding of the basics of operating this type of equipment without the risks associated with having inexperience operators let loose on an actual site.

The hardware consists of a modified Volvo excavator simulator that includes features such as a boom mounted camera and a tilting cab to create the feeling of a real high reach machine.

The software features the demolition of low and high rise steel framed and concrete structures.

The operator can select appropriate attachments during exercises that will also raise awareness of the structural elements encountered during demolition.

The simulator will be seen for the first time by the industry at the joint IDE (Institute of Demolition Engineers)/NFDC Demolition Exhibition in Solihull, near Birmingham, at the end of next week, with its first European outing being at the World Demolition Summit in Amsterdam at the end of October.
