Wagner Equipment operates a Cat Rental Store network with approximately 19 locations in Colorado, New Mexico and west Texas.

US Caterpillar dealer and rental company Wagner Equipment Co is to implement Lawson's Equipment Service Management and Rental Suite of software.

Wagner is a Cat Rental Store operation with 19 locations and rental sales of approximately US$70 million, and ranked the 26th largest rental company in North America by RER magazine. Its Cat dealership covers Colorado, New Mexico and far west Texas.

The contract was signed during the first half of Lawson's first quarter in fiscal 2010, which ends on 31 August. Wagner will use the system to manage all aspects of its business, including sales, service, maintenance and equipment rental.

Lawson said Wagner was looking for an integrated solution to replace its older solutions; "The goal with the new Lawson system is to help bring greater efficiency, improve employee productivity and enhance the reporting process by delivering a single source of the data and information."

Bruce Wagner, chief operating officer for Wagner, said; "We felt that Lawson offered the best solution available on the market today because it is geared specifically around the needs of our industry...In addition, Lawson Opportunity Analyzer gave us a clearer view of the potential benefits of implementing the Lawson system before we committed to the project."

Ron Kubera, Lawson's general manager for the Equipment Service Management and Rental solution, said; "Today's equipment dealer needs a dedicated business application system that is built around the specific demands related to heavy equipment dealership operations.

"Particularly in this challenging economy, equipment dealers need tools to help maximize the entire lifecycle of each piece of equipment that they sell, service or rent. Lawson can make that happen through our industry-specific focus."

Lawson for Equipment Service Management & Rental helps equipment dealers manage equipment from initial sale through its useful life until disposal. It allows dealers to improve integration across internal sales, finance, service, warranty and rental departments.

"This integration helps dealers more quickly process customer orders and warranty claims", said the software company, "The software also helps dealers plan and schedule future service requirements based on the maintenance programs of their customers' equipment currently in the field. This helps dealers better predict future parts and labour demands."
