Wilbert has celebrated construction of its 200th tower crane and 2009 as its best financial year to date

Tower crane manufacturer Wilbert has celebrated construction of its 200th unit and a strong 2009 financial year.

The German company, which has been around for more than 75 years, has posted sales of Euro 44 million - its best year ever. "Production at Wilbert Turmkrane is running at full capacity right up to the end of the year," explained Franz-Rudolf Wilbert, managing director.

The 200th unit presented on 31 August was the range-topping 128 tonne capacity WT 2405L e.tronic luffing jib crane for a power station project in Mannheim, Germany. It will work there for two years, reaching a final height of 130 m. Working radius will be 42 m and it will be one of several Wilbert towers on the project.

Despite being a long-established company, tower crane production started relatively recently in 2004. It began with the WT 200 e.tronic and now the range includes seven saddle jib cranes to 650 tonne-metres and six luffers to 2,405 tonne-metres.
