Atlas Copco launches solar powered light towers

Atlas Copco unveiled a range of battery and solar powered LED lighting towers at MINExpo 2012 in Las Vegas last month.

The new QLTS light towers are charged by the sun during the day and are powered by batteries during the night. As well as being environmentally friendly, the solar powered lights are cost effective and – without an engine and alternator – are quiet to run.

Powered by AGM batteries that are charged by the sun, the LED towers can provide light for days without needing a recharge.

The QLTS series comes with both manual and automatic photocell controlled on/off requiring no user input. As the tower does not have an engine or alternator, maintenance is also minimized.

The solar light towers have been designed to complement Atlas Copco’s QLT series of diesel powered light towers.

The new Atlas Copco light towers will be available for sale in the final quarter of 2012 in North and South America and will be available to the rest of the world in early 2013.
