The new largest mobile crane on the island of Orkney, off the coast of Scotland, is a 220 tonne capacity Liebherr LTM 1220-5.2.

All of Heddle Construction's cranes are Liebherrs and it has been a customer for more than 20 years. Demand for higher, longer reach and heavier lifting prompted the investment. Work is increasing in the marine support and renewable energy markets.

Derek Heddle, director, said, "We are very much planning for the future in buying this crane and it has already been proving its worth in precision lifts at both height and radius. We've been running 40 and 60 tonnes capacity Liebherr mobiles in our fleet for many years and this new acquisition is very much our flagship, adding an extra dimension to our capabilities."

Heddle is a family-owned group offering construction, civil engineering, agricultural and materials handling services. It is the only crane rental company on Orkney and celebrates its 40th Anniversary in 2012.
