WWL buys majority stake in ALS

Scandinavian firm Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics (WWL) has bought out Abnormal Load Services (ALS) of the Netherlands.

The outbound logistics services firm acquired a 60% majority stake in ALS in early October. ALS has been integrated into WWL and has adopted the trading name of Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics Abnormal Load Services (WWL ALS).

The new entity will provide transport and distribution solutions for high and heavy wheeled and tracked equipment, including agricultural and construction machinery.

Global shipping and logistics firm WWL operates more than 60 vessels and employs a staff of 4,500 worldwide.

ALS offers out of gauge supply chain solutions for the construction and agricultural industries. Founded in 1979, the firm has developed a global network providing solutions from blue chip manufacturers to freight forwarders, distributors and end users requiring specialist expertise for break bulk, project cargo, construction and plant equipment, and support services worldwide.
