UK rental firm HSS Hire has launched a new Smartphone App and ‘scan to hire’ service, enabling customers to scan and hire anything from the HSS Hire Guide using their Smartphones.

The "Augmented Reality" technology in its 2013 Hire Guide allows users to scan relevant products in the guide using their Smartphone App. The App then processes the rental order.

The company claimed to be the first UK rental business to introduce the innovative technology.

“We know that lots of our customers are using their phones to find and hire equipment so we wanted to help bridge the gap between paper and digital", said Fiona Perrin, sales and marketing director at HSS Hire.

"We’ve added a digital layer to our Hire Guide with this ‘Scan to Hire’ function – it makes hire on the go even easier and we’re sure our customers will love tapping into this digital innovation”.

The new App also includes a branch locator, a skip hire instant quote service and a link to the HSS mobile website.
