Liebherr derrick crane dismantles tower crane

A Liebherr 200 DR 5/10 Litronic derrick crane was used to dismantle a tower crane on one of India’s tallest commercial towers, the 50 storey Kohinoor Tower.
The main contractor for the project was Larsen & Toubro (L & T), India. The derrick crane dismantled the tower crane and then lowered it to the ground.
The derrick crane has a maximum radius of 25 metres. When using a jib at a radius of 20 m, loads of 10 tonnes can be hoisted in double-reeved operation, a company spokesperson added. Individual components of the crane are 2.20 x 1.10 x 1.10 m.
The diamond-shaped Kohinoor Tower is 203 m tall and forms the centrepiece of a 5 acre development on the site of the former Kohinoor textile mill, in Dadar West, South Mumbai. Designed by gkkworks (USA) and SSA Architects (India), the devolvement has shops, restaurants, a luxury hotel and an open air swimming pool on the roof.
