Manufacturer Himoinsa has supplied ten parallel-connected generator sets to support the UK National Grid to reduce surges during peak demand.

Through its distributor Ocktcom, Himoinsa said the gensets had been supplied in 40ft (12m) containers and could supply 20MW of power to the grid for one or two hours a day, up to a maximum 400 hours per year.

The manufacturer said the gensets were able to deliver 100% of the available power in less than 30 seconds.

Installed near to an urban area, the units are housed in weather-proof containers and emit 79dBA at 1m distance. The engine models can also be adapted to natural gas supply if required.
