Atlas Copco sucks up vacuum company

Manufacturer Atlas Copco said it had completed its acquisition of Oerlikon Leybold Vacuum - a CHF525 million (€484 million) deal struck at the end of last year.

It said the company had been renamed Leybold and become part of Atlas Copco’s Vacuum Solutions Division, belonging to the Compressor Technique Business Area.

"The technological know-how and the innovative spirit of Leybold will complement our vacuum

portfolio and strengthen our market presence, contributing to our customers’ success," said

Geert Follens, president of the Atlas Copco Vacuum Solutions Division.

Leybold, headquartered in Cologne, Germany, and has a 166-year long history, develops and delivers vacuum pumps, systems, standardised and customised vacuum solutions and services for various industries.
