Civil engineering and maritime service provider VolkerBrooks, part of the VolkerStevin group, has commissioned lifting and rigging equipment expert Rope and Sling Specialists (RSS) to supply lifting and rigging equipment as part of a massive modernisation project on the military infrastructure on the Falkland Islands, a British overseas territory off the coast of Argentina.

According to RSS, £180m will be invested in the Falklands over the next ten years with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO). The equipment RSS supplied will be used in upgrading Mare Harbour so that it is suitable for larger vessels and includes: wire rope slings, web slings, round slings, shackles, hydraulics, chain slings and wire rope.
