Pilosio’s MP multidirectional scaffolding is being used on the construction of the control tower of the King David the Builder international airport of Kutaisi, in Georgia

Italian contractor Permasteelisa Group chose Pilosio’s MP multidirectional scaffolding as its access solution for work on the construction of the control tower of the King David the Builder international airport of Kutaisi, in Georgia. The 55m high tower structure is being built from reinforced concrete and n external façade mad from aluminium cladding and glazing.

Limited anchor points, and the protruding shape of the control tower, meant that the scaffolding structure was created from two concentric structures connected every 6 m.

The scaffolding structure closest to the tower was built in MP multidirectional scaffolding, with steel service platforms on all floors. The installation of three levels of MP system shelving, complete with metal planks, enabled workers to get closer to the building for fixing the support brackets for the cladding panels.

Three overhanging loading areas, positioned on the outermost MP structure, were required for the storage of materials for the glazed section. The construction of the overhang was made possible by the application of system prefabricated truss beams of 1.8 m in length, supported by façade diagonals.

On the more even side of the tower, where the projections at the top are less, an Electroelsa EHPM 2500/25 T self-propelled platform was also installed for the transportation of workers and construction materials.
