The company’s SB concept was introduced in 1993 and incorporates a patented internal component design, that integrates the percussion mechanism and the guide system into a single piece that offers enhanced durability.

Epiroc said: “With the invention of the Solid Body (SB) concept, Epiroc became the pioneer of a new kind of technology that changed the landscape forever, with the lightweight Solid Body design having various different benefits compared to conventional hydraulic breakers with impact mechanism and separate casing.”

Suitable for demolishing light concrete structures, asphalt pavements, as well as for performing earthworks, scaling in underground operations, and other demanding tasks, the company’s SB hydraulic breakers have continued to be among its most popular range hydraulic excavator attachments.

According to Epiroc, the lightweight Solid Body design offers equipment users a number of different benefits that conventional breakers with an impact mechanism and separate casing do not.

“The Solid Body concept is slimmer compared to conventional hydraulic breakers of the same size, giving it a more compact design for better visibility and handling, allowing a smaller excavator, helping reduce carrier fuel consumption. Less parts means lesser maintenance requirements with enhanced reliability,” said the manufacturer.
