Unics for Danish MoD

The Ministry of Defence in Denmark has bought a fleet of Unic URW-1006 mini spider cranes.

Applications will include repair and maintenance of machinery vital to defence operations, Unic said. All the cranes are the 10 tonne capacity URW-1006 model. Features helping in the decision to purchase included easy portability and quick set up, versatility and a 10 tonne capacity.

Pick and carry capability is up to 1.5 tonnes and the outriggers are designed to offer maximum stability when lifting on rugged terrain.

The cranes are on a four-year deal made through Unic Cranes Europe Danish dealer, Lissner. A series of cranes will be delivered over the coming months, Unic said.

Commenting on the deal Morten Lissner, Lissner owner, said, “We are very happy with the agreement with FMI and feel that we are well prepared to accomplish the job which will be an exciting challenge for our service team.”

Graeme Riley Unic Cranes Europe chief executive said, “Unic mini cranes have already proven popular for military applications, including essential lifting work for RAF Odiham and Camp Bastion in Afghanistan. A range of Unic mini cranes were sold to the [UK] Ministry of Defence in 2012 to be used for lifting heavy aircraft parts when the Chinook engineering team were performing essential maintenance on their fleet of helicopters.”
