New G20 generators from Doosan International UK Ltd, Portable Power (DIPP) are being used in two specially made trailer-mounted grout pumping systems designed by specialist concrete pump rental company Premier Concrete Pumping Ltd (PCP).

The units, jointly developed by PCP and Bachy Soletanche, are currently being used by Bachy Carillion joint venture on the M1 Widening Project near Luton, in southern UK. The units are providing a more efficient means of batching a grout mix.

The G20 generators are mounted on a trailer with a Pressvess silo containing dry powder cement, a wet mixing system and a Putzmeister P11 grout pump which together provide concrete for soil nailing work on the motorway.

The G20s supply electrical power for the controls on both the mixer and the silo and were chosen for their size and their suitability for this application, where the trailer-mounted grout pumps can be used as much as 24 hours a day. All the equipment has been chosen to minimise weight and to ensure that the trailer units meet height restrictions for working under bridges on the motorway.

Family-owned PCP has rented trailer mounted concrete pumps to the piling and ground engineering market for more than 30 years. The company is a specialist rental company supplying sectors including civil engineering, piling and foundations, railways, tunneling and grouting.

The G20 is one of 12 PowerSource generators offered by Doosan's Portable Power division. The range encompasses units with prime power outputs from 10 to 500 kVA.
