GreenMech adds tracked version of Quad Chip 150

Chipper manufacturer GreenMech is adding a tracked version of the Quad Chip 150 woodchipper that it launched last year. The new Quad Trak 160 will be launched at the Saltex groundcare exhibition in the UK on 7-9 September.

Built at the company's Warwickshire factory, the Quad Trak 160 uses the same vertical feed rollers, 160 mm x 230 mm in-feed throat and "easy maintenance" square blade system used on the Quad Chip 150.

The tracks give up to 280 mm of ground clearance and the chipper incorporates a 2 mm thick belly plate to protect the engine and chipper. Optional extras include a 360 degree turntable and tilting body kit.

GreenMech's sales director Martin Lucas said the combination of the turntable and tilting body meant that the Quad Trak "can be operated on slopes of up 30º. The tilting body ensures the correct flow of oil to the engine and the turntable allows the chute to be positioned to suit the conditions."

For transporting on the road a bespoke trailer has been designed that allows safe and simple loading and unloading. Once mounted on the trailer the machine can be operated as a road tow chipper.

Meanwhile, GreenMech reports that Australian rental company Kennards Hire has taken delivery of six additional Chipmaster CM220s, taking its fleet to just under 30. Kennards first added GreenMech chippers to its fleet in 2003.

Kennards' national asset manager, Mark Zimmer, said; "with the GreenMech we have a chipper that is large enough for commercial work, yet small and compact enough for our domestic clientele. It has all the latest safety features which is a critical factor for us and at only 1320 kg can be towed by most vehicles".
