The SCX1200HD-2 is a new 120 tonne capacity heavy duty lattice boom crawler crane from Hitachi Sumitomo Heavy Industries Construction Crane Co., Ltd in Japan.

It is a scaled-up version of the 90 tonne capacity SCX900HD-2 heavy duty model released in 2008. The engine is 272 kW and the heavy duty front and rear main winches offer 25 tonne line pull on 28 mm diameter rope. The reinforced structure and extra weight increases middle range capacity by 10%.

Another feature is the independent oil cooler and fan mounted away from the engine radiator for improved cooling and temperature regulation. Multiple wet-disc brakes give a constant feel to the brake pedal regardless the load.

All new SCX-2 series cranes have a new LMI with LCD screen simultaneously indicating actual load, rated load, load ratio, working radius, boom angle and engine speed. Voice and graphic warnings are given where the lifting moment reaches 90% of rated load.

The list price of the standard specification lift crane is given by the manufacturer as JPYen 140 million (US$ 1.7 million) and it forecasts the annual number of sales at 12 units.
