Access Rental

Italian manufacturers of crawler mounted aerial platforms continue to supply the flexibility and transportability often important to renters of access equipment.

Several new models on show at SAIE were less than 780 mm wide and weighed less than 2200 kg. Smallest was CTE's CS 135E, which, at 1600 kg, can be transported in a van, said the company. Elsewhere, Platform Basket's 15 m working height Spider 15.75 weighs in at 1850 kg, and its 18 m working height Spider 18.75 is 2000 kg. Also offering 18 of working height is Bluelift's C.18/8, which weighs 2200 kg.

Bigger crawlers are the 21,6 m working height, 2900 kg K 622/DAT from Tecchio (pictured). Its transport width is 1200 mm. Biggest of the new offerings is CMC's 41 m working height Elefant S41, which just missed its planned debut at SAIE.

Among new Italian-built telehandlers on show was the prototype of Terexlift's Girolift 4018 rotating model. According to preliminary specifications, it will have a maximum lift capacity of 4000 kg and lift height of 18 m, putting it between the company's current GTH-3518 R and -4020 R models. It will be in production sometime next year.

Dieci's new offering is the 6150 kg Dedalus 30.9, powered by an Iveco 60 kW engine. Its maximum lift capability is 3000 kg to 5,7 m and 1200 kg to a maximum height of 8,7 m. Elsewhere in Italy, Merlo has redesigned the boom of its 40.25 to extend lift height: hence the new 40.26 model, available in January.

Back in the aerial platform sector – there were over 20 Italian manufacturers of aerial platforms at SAIE! – Tigieffe's new six-model, Airo X2 range of narrow and wide electric scissors will replace the SF line when deliveries start in January. Working heights are from 8,3 to 14 m; capacities from 400 to 500 kg. The machines in the narrow series are 890 mm wide, while the others are 1200 mm in width. An ability to climb 25% grades and 90° steering enhance their flexibility on work sites, said the company.

New from scissor specialist Iteco was the 14 m working height IT 12180 D/DE with 350 kg of capacity, which replaces the IT 12160. The company also showed the 6,5 m working height, 250 kg capacity IT 4680, distinguished by the 360 mm lateral extension of its platform.

Also launched at SAIE was the big brother to Braviisol's Leonardo vertical mast platform, the 6,1 m working height, 280 kg capacity Lui S.I. 400. Operators can drive the 800 mm wide, 1035 kg machine at an automatically set, slow speed while at full height. Delivery is 30 days and price is €12000.
