Leighton has taken the option to retain Wal King as CEO beyond the previously agreed deadline of 30 June 2010.

The brief statement from Leighton set no new retirement date but said, "(We) have agreed to amend Mr King's current employment contract to provide flexibility to extend his employment term beyond 30 June 2010 on the same contractual terms."

Mr King, who is currently 64, joint Leighton in 1968. He has been an executive director since 1975, and has served as CEO since 1985.
