Pettibone joins the giants

Shown for the first time at WoC, Pettibone's 1530 is the latest in large-capacity telehandlers. Joining the company's Extendo series, the unit has a maximum lifting capacity of 15,000 pounds and a lift height of approximately 30 feet, 10 inches unloaded.

"We just released it this week," said Dan Luoma, Pettibone's 1530 project manager. "It's designed for scaffold handling."

Luoma said the 1530 is Pettibone's largest telehandler currently made, with developments starting for it back in April 2008. "The 1530's design included a redesigned power train, with a higher horsepower engine and larger axles. The pusher-style cooling system works with the machine instead of against it as the machine travels forward."

The 1530 has four-wheel, two-wheel and crab steering and a maximum travel speed of 20 mph. It features a below grade reach of two inches when fully retracted and 17 inches when extended. The unit's boom is automatic fork leveling without slave cylinders.
