Abu Dhabi Ports Company (ADPC) in the UAE has ordered 20 Terex Noell SC624E diesel-electric sprinter carriers for the soon to be completed Khalifa Port in Abu Dhabi.

The one-over-one sprinter carriers will be operational in the port no later than mid-2012, according to Terex Port Equipment. The contract includes an option for ADPC to order additional sprinter carriers for the port's forthcoming second phase of development.

Located halfway between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, Khalifa Port is adjacent to Kizad, set to become one of the world's largest industrial zones and includes a multi-purpose port island located 4.5 km offshore, covering an area of about 3 square km.

This is the third Terex Noell SC624E Sprinter carrier contract awarded to the company in recent months, following 4 diesel-electric units delivered to CSXI, North Baltimore, USA and a contract for 20 diesel-hydraulic NSC422H units with Hyundai Development Corporation for delivery to the new port of Busan, South Korea.
