Optco, a Gilbert, Arizona-based industrial coating company, has used a Genie Z-135/70 boom to inspect and complete the finish on more than 9000 t of pre-painted steel used on the new US$450 million Arizona Cardinals football stadium in Glendale, Arizona. The boom was supplied by United Rental's local aerials branch at Tempe. Optco's field superintendent, Frank Guana, said the platform's speed of operation was just as important as its working envelope; “We don't spend much time in any one location... Once the lower boom is deployed, the articulating upper section moves up and down quicker than our standard, straight 120 ft telescoping machines.”
