Access equipment owners often have the capability to modify their equipment themselves, and the incentive to increase access platform capabilities and flexibility can be strong. However, Gary Riley, AWP safety specialist for Midwest Aerials & Equipment, in St. Louis, says the original equipment manufacturers need to give approval before equipment is modified.
