Are you ready for the International Rental Conference?

03 October 2016

Nobody in the rental business has all the answers, but those who have been in the sector for many years can at least offer the benefit of their experience and help younger rental companies avoid common mistakes and problems.

This experience, and guidance, is what senior rental executives from Europe, the US and Australia will provide at the fourth International Rental Conference (IRC) in Shanghai this November.

For example, Xavier du Boÿs, the long-standing CEO of French company Kiloutou, will focus on the creation of value in the rental business. He will look at the key calculations and decisions that a rental company has to make, from reducing costs and balancing demand and pricing to revenue creation and the working life of equipment.

For Mr du Boÿs, it is key for a company’s workforce to understand how rental works and why the creation of value is essential. He will argue that a good understanding of these concepts will give true meaning to their work.

Taking a slightly different approach to rental management, from the perspective of lean operations and customer service, will be Norty Turner, CEO of Riwal. He will show how the company – despite being a mature business – has been able to increase its efficiency and at the same time improve customer service.

Bill Whitehouse, COO of Australian rental company Kennards Hire, will describe how the family-owned company has successfully navigated through its almost 70 year history to become one of the most successful rental companies in Asia Pacific. He will highlight the strategies that have worked well for the company.

Meanwhile, Matt Fearon, president of Terex’s Genie aerial work platform business, will highlight lessons for China’s fast-growing access rental sector from other access markets that have developed rapidly over the past 30 years.

In addition to rental expertise from leaders of the industry, delegates will gain a rounded picture of the Chinese and Asian rental market from several Asian speakers – including Karin Sun of Off-Highway Research, Desmond Soh of JLG Industries, Fei Xiaodong of Jiangsu Xugong Guanglian Machinery Rental Co. Ltd, and Khun Tan, founder of access renter Guangzhou Liluo Mechanical Equipment Leasing.

IRC won’t provide all the answers, but it will be a day well spent.
