Atlas Copco introduces new demolition tools

01 April 2010

Atlas Copco will introduce a number of new models of special interest to the demolition industry among the many new products it will have on show on its stand. Pride of place goes to a new 6.5 tonne hydraulic Silent Demolition Tool. The CC 6000 CombiCrusher weighs in at 6,500 kg (14,300 lb) and is designed for carriers weighing 58 to 85 tonne class.

According to Wolfgang Hohn, product line manager for the silent demolition tools side of Atlas Copco’s business: “With the CC 6000, we are accommodating the trend towards bigger demolition excavators. Only five years ago carrier units in excess of 60 tonnes were something special. But this has changed. With the CC 6000 we are offering the right kind of attachment for this class of carriers.”

The CC 6000 follows the design of the company’s smaller CC units and will be available in two versions – U (universal jaws) and S (shear jaws).

It will be joined by a smaller CC unit, the new CC 650 CombiCutter with hydraulic rotation. With a service weight of 650 kg (1,430 lb), the CC 650 is designed for use with 6 to 12 carriers. Wolfgang said of this new tool: “A lot of changes are taking place in this particular excavator class. We recognise a clear trend towards increasingly flexible carrier units which are already furnished in the shops with various systems suitable for different attachments.” The CC650 will replace the CC 550, with sales starting at the bauma fair.

Another tool of particular interest will be the new HB 3100 heavy breaker that features PowerAdapt and an optimised box design. The HB 3100 weighs in at 3,100 kg (6,820 lb) and is intended for use on carriers weighing from 32 to 52 tonnes. It operates at 160 to 180 bar and offers a blow rate from 280 to 560 bpm.
