Bouygues acquires UK contractor

French contractor Bouygues has acquired UK-based newbuild and refurbishment specialist Thomas Vale Group.

Based in Worcestershire, Thomas Vale is forecast to generate sales of over £200 million (€240 million) in 2012. It has regional offices in Birmingham, and targets public and private contracts in the retail, office and leisure sectors, among others. The contractor also has long-term public sector partnerships in the housing and regeneration sector.

Bouygues said the deal was significant in terms of its expansion programme in the UK as it would provide it with access to a geographical region that complements its existing subsidiaries in London, the South East, South West and Wales (Bouygues UK, Warings, Leadbitter and its subsidiary Denne, and ETDE).
