Burckhardt Compression, a leading manufacturer of reciprocating compressors and a full-service provider, has received an exclusive Certificate of Apprenticeship from the U.S. Department of Labor to train and certify Laby Compressor Technicians.

The company said this recognition underscores its commitment to enhancing the skills of its workforce and contributing to the broader industry.

This certification allows Burckhardt Compression (US) Inc. to train its technicians on a specific kind of reciprocating compressor – the Laby compressor – a product unique to Burckhardt Compression. The training program, offered only internally at this stage, entails 144 hours of classroom instruction and 2000 hours of hands-on experience. Upon completion, participants will be awarded a diploma directly from the U.S. Department of Labor.

“We’re excited to be the first in Texas to receive this certification,” said Jose “Pepe” Gonzalez, Burckhardt Compression’s Training Manager. “This not only validates our commitment to our employees’ growth but also empowers us to directly apply for state grants to support our training initiatives.”

This certification is the first step in Burckhardt Compression’s broader vision for employee development. The company aims to expand this program to include training for millwrights, potentially leading to an associate degree. The company’s focus on employee growth and skills enhancement is a key aspect of its sustainability mission.

Bill Sayre, President of Burckhardt Compression (US) Inc. added, “Our purpose is sustainability, and that includes investing in our people. These training programs reflect our commitment to creating robust careers for our employees and contributing positively to our community.”
