Case Construction Equipment has completed the sale of its first two Tier 4 Interim backhoe loaders in the UK.

Lancashire Case dealer Dennis Barnfield brokered the deals, delivering the units to civil engineering contractor and plant hirer P&H Civils of Penrith, and plant hirer Stephen Christian & Sons on the Isle of Man.

P&H Civils of Penrith took delivery of a 695ST, a four equal-sized wheel machine powered by a 110 hp engine driving through a standard Powershift transmission. The machine was supplied with a hydraulic hammer in addition to the standard backhoe bucket.

The company's new 695ST is already working on one of the UK's major infrastructure projects - the Forth Replacement Crossing (FRC) in Scotland, where P&H Civils is carrying out drainage works. The new machine replaced a three-year-old 695ST which dealer Dennis Barnfield took back in part-exchange.

Stephen Christian & Sons bought a Case 590ST with Powershuttle transmission and a 110 hp engine. The firm operates a range of Case diggers, with the new 590ST joining a Case 580LE, which the company has been running for 12 years.

The Case 434T/E four-cylinder turbocharged 3.4 litre common-rail engine with cooled exhaust gas recirculation now powers all T Series machines. The Tier 4 Interim compliant power plant produces 97 hp (72 kW) for the 580ST, rising to 110 hp (82 kW) in the 590ST and 695ST models.
